Who are Harrick Scientific?
Since its beginnings in 1969, Harrick Scientific has advanced the frontiers of optical spectroscopy through its innovations to transmission, internal reflection, external reflection, diffuse reflection, and emission spectroscopy. The president and founder of the corporation, Dr. N. J. Harrick, pioneered internal reflection spectroscopy and became the principal developer of this technique. Harrick Scientific offers a large selection of standard and custom-built accessories for IR and UV-VIS spectrometers. Many of these attachments were originally forerunners in their field and their contemporary versions are considered industry standards. What Harrick product offerings might be most interesting to me?
Harrick’s Praying Mantis™ diffuse reflectance kit is the industry standard for experiments on heterogeneous catalysts and similar materials. It has an “off-axis” optical design that minimizes the collection of specular reflections from the sample and can be fitted with both high temperature (up to 910 °C) and low temperature (-150 °C to +600 °C) reaction cells.
Harrick’s Seagull™ variable angle reflection accessory covers a range from 5° to 85° angle of incidence within a single accessory. It can also be fitted with hemispherical ZnSe or Ge ATR elements for variable angle ATR.
Harrick’s VariGATR™ is a unique grazing angle ATR accessory for measurements on semiconductors and metallic substrates. Angle of incidence can vary from 60° to 65° and may be fitted with a polarizer for additional sensitivity to molecular orientation.
